The member representing Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey, has distributed food items, cash and other relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs of Bakassi at the refugee camp.
The Lawmaker, who was accompanied by a crowd of supporters during the visit to the camp, said the refugees deserve love, care, attention and support.
Some of the items include rice, garri, salt, beans, mosquito nets among others.
He assured the refugees of his continued support to alleviate their present conditions, assuring them that as a legislator, he will continue to speak for the good of his constituents.
Leader of the camp, Mr Bassey Etim, who received the items on behalf of the refugees, thanked the lawmaker for always remembering them in his activities. Etim disclosed that several appeals made towards the lawmaker about their welfare have been swiftly attended to.
Similarly, the lawmaker also visited the motherless babies home in Calabar South and the Old People’s Home where he also donated foodstuff and cash for their upkeep.

Hon. Bassey believes that it should not only be in the festive period that the people who need help the most should be remembered but always.
The lawmaker believes that putting smiles on people’s faces is one of the reasons that promotes unity, peace and togetherness among his constituents.
He is always home with his people, interacting with them and solving some of their problems in the best possible way he can.
Upon his swearing-in, he assured his people that he was going to be accessible to all, trustworthy and responsive to their plight.
This has been evident in his steady homecoming and robust legislative engagements/performance on the floor of the Green Chambers.
No doubt, within the period under review since he assumed office in the National Assembly, Hon. Bassey has been in touch with his people and they are beginning to feel the impact of his dynamic and quality representation in the House of Reps.
All he needs at this critical time is the support, encouragement and prayers of his constituents to enable him to re-double his effort in attracting the much-needed development to the federal constituency.
