Odey said in a post on X, “Happy International Women’s Day to one of Cross River State’s finest, Dr Betta Edu.”

CONVERSEER reports that Edu was suspended as minister by President Bola Tinubu on 8 January 2024, over allegations bordering on the withdrawal of N585 million from the ministry’s account into a private account.

Edu was later invited for question by the EFCC, following her suspension. To date, neither the president nor the EFCC has issued a public statement regarding the matter.
