The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has beacon on Dr Betta Edu, suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation amid the surrounding news.

CONVERSEER learned that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has cleared Edu of all charges; though the anti-graft agency is yet to confirm that.

In a social media post on Friday, Odey told Edu that she’s coming out stronger.

“Good morning, Dr Betta Edu @edu_betta. You are coming out STRONGER! The Lord is your strength,” Odey posted on X (formerly Twitter).

CONVERSEER also reported that the Deputy Governor did make a post, calling Edu one of Cross River’s finest on International Women’s Day.

CONVERSEER reports that Edu was suspended as minister by President Bola Tinubu on 8 January 2024, over allegations bordering on the withdrawal of N585 million from the ministry’s account into a private account.

Edu was later invited for question by the EFCC, following her suspension. To date, neither the president nor the EFCC has issued a public statement regarding the matter.
