8-Year-Old Girl Accused of Witchcraft and Tortured in Akwa Ibom After Mother's Illness

Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven has rescued an 8-year-old girl who was branded a w!tch and tortured in Akwa Ibom.

 

 

Loven, who disclosed this in a post on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, said the minor was taken to a church where the prophet claimed she was the cause of her mother’s sickness. 

 

“Yesterday Land of Hope’s Director of Child Development Nsidibe Orok got an emergency call. An 8-year-old girl was accused of being a witch and in risk of being k!lled. She was in the church when prophecies said she was the cause of her mother’s sickness. She was tortured but escaped and has been hiding in the bush. The girl needs urgent medical care,” she wrote.
