Cross River begins employment of lawyers into civil service: See how to apply

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The Government of Cross River State has commenced the recruitment of lawyers into the Civil Service.

According to a job application advertisement signed by Sir Maurice Effiwatt, Chairman of the Cross River State Civil Service Commission, the approval was given by Governor Bassey Otu for the employment of eligible Lawyers into the Civil Service.

“The Cross River State Civil Service Commission is hereby calling for applications from suitable qualified candidates, who are between the ages of 18 and 45, to fill the underlisted vacant posts,” the notice stated in part. See details of how to apply below.

POSITIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

S/N POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1 Deputy Directors 15 years post call
2 Assistant Directors 13 years post call
3 Senior State Counsel I 11 years post call
4 Senior State Counsel II 9 years post call
5 State Counsel I 5 years post call
6 State Counsel II 3 years post call

METHOD OF APPLICATION

1. Application must be made online (FREE) at the commissions dedicated website (https://portal.crscsc.crossriverstate.gov.ng) with the following documents uploaded, using PDF format:

a. Typed and signed application with passport photo affixed

b. Highest Academic Certificate

c. Local Government Area of Origin Certificate

d. Birth Certificate/Age Declaration

e. NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate, where applicable

2. All certificates must be from Government-recognised institutions and uploaded from originals.

3. Applicants are required to print out a hard copy of the submitted application form.

4. All shortlisted applicants will be notified via Email or WhatsApp, and on the CRS Civil Service Commission website (https://crscsc.crossriverstate.gov.ng), between Monday 14th July to Friday 25th July 2025.

5. The application portal opens on Wednesday 2nd July 2025 and closes Monday 14th July 2025.

6. The shortlisted applicants will be interviewed physically, between Monday 21st July and Friday 25th July 2025 at the Commission’s Conference Room, Calabar.
