CRSG wades into IPMAN Calabar crisis

The Government of Cross River State has waded into the never-ending crisis of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Calabar depot.

CONVERSEER reports that since the administration of former Governor Ben Ayade, it has been battle upon battle, court order upon court order on who becomes the chairman of the association and that battle has continued into the new government led by Governor Bassey Otu.

Today, Chief Robert Obi will say he is the chairman, and tomorrow, Mr Peter Okim Abang will claim the same.

However, a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, at the weekend put the crisis to bed, once and for all.

The letter addressed to the IPMAN National President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi, ordered Chief Obi and his team to stop parading themselves as the leadership of the association in the state.

It then aligned with and recognised Abang as the Chairman of the IPMAN Calabar depot.

The letter which said at no point did Obi emerge as chairman of IPMAN in the state, urged the association’s national leadership to call him to order to avoid throwing the state into chaos.

The letter which also copied the Inspection General of Police (IGP), the Director of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) Calabar, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 6 and other security agencies, appealed to security agencies to stop Obi from parading himself as the substantive chairman of the association to avoid creating crisis in the state.
