An 18-year-old teenager, Kingsley Eyo Andem, has the Nigerian Police to thank after he was rescued from a notorious gang in Calabar, Cross River State.

CONVERSEER gathered that Andem was allegedly dating the girlfriend of a gang leader, identified as Olismam.

Olismam then masterminded the kidnapping of Andem from his residence and took him to the creek in the Nyanghasang axis, Calabar Municipality and inflicted multiple injuries on him.

A statement from SP Irene Ugbo, Police Public Relations Officer in the State on 14th June 2024, said Andem was rescued by the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS), a tactical unit of the police, on 5th June, following a distress call reporting the incident.

“On 5th June 2024, at approximately 0920 hours, the Anti-Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) responded to a distress call reporting that a group of hoodlums had abducted a young man from his home and taken him to the creek in the Nyanghasang axis. The police team swiftly mobilised to the crime scene.

“Upon sighting the police, the hoodlums fled into the creek, abandoning their victim, Kingsley Eyo Andem, an 18-year-old male, who was found with multiple injuries inflicted by his abductors.
