The lawmaker representing Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey has moved a motion on the floor of the Green Chambers, calling on the Police Service Commission to reinstate and compensate Corporal Ita Edet.
Edet was dismissed from the service of the Nigerian Police Force in May 2012 as a result of a court case against him at the Etinan High Court.
Expressing concern about the welfare and well-being of the dismissed officer, Hon. Bassey told the House that later in November 2021, Edet’s name was struck out of the charge number HU/211/2019 after standing trial for eight years.

He, therefore, urged the House to look into the motion with a view of mandating the Police Service Commission to re-instate the police officer and ensure he is adequately compensated.
While addressing newsmen after the plenary, Bassey disclosed that the challenges faced by his constituent were of utmost concern to him, hence his desire to always speak and present such concerns for solutions at the national level.
