Suspected members of the Biafra Nations League (BnL) have killed three Cameroonian gendarmes in Atabong East of Bakassi Peninsula, collecting their rifles.

Reports said the BnL boys, numbering five, overwhelmed three gendarmes at the market, hitting them hard with weapons; one of them, who quickly snatched a gun, shot the three officers and ran away with the guns.

This happened at 11am today, Sunday, 18th August 2024.

Separatists have been troubling the Bakassi Peninsula (portion ceded to Cameroon from Nigeria), especially armed forces loyal to the BnL.

Operational Coordinator of BnL, Henry Edet confirmed the incident.

In May, Biafra’s Dragon Fighter Marine allegedly eliminated the Atabong East commander of the Cameroonian Rapid d’intervention Battalions (BIR).

The separatists, who were reportedly hiding near the residential house of the BIR commander with their bikes, drove into the arena and threw explosives, killing five soldiers and the commander who was about to enter his boat.

CCTV footage around the army quarters showed the residential building of the commander.

Before the incident, new separatist commander Chinonso alias General Kill and Dry had issued 7 days ultimatum to Nigeria oil firm Universal Energy to quit Bakassi.
