Akpabuyo, Cross River – Amb. Dr Helen Bassey Archibong, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of Akpabuyo LGA on Women Development Centre and Event Management, organised a remarkable festive empowerment programme at Eneyo North.
The event brought hope and joy to beneficiaries drawn from all 10 wards of Akpabuyo. The empowerment initiative provided cash grants to both widows and men, fostering small business ventures.
Additionally, three university students received ₦200,000 scholarships each, while over 10 secondary school students were awarded ₦100,000 to further their academic pursuits.
In the spirit of the festive season, essential food items, including bags of rice, were distributed to widows, displaced persons, and other vulnerable individuals, enhancing community empowerment.
Dr Archibong, who is also the CEO of Wrightway Cooperative Nigeria Ltd., reiterated her dedication to humanity-focused governance, highlighting that this empowerment initiative is well-aligned with the vision of Hon. (Prince) Effiom Bassey Effiong, Chairman of Akpabuyo LGA, to promote inclusive development and empowerment in Akpabuyo.
Expressing their heartfelt gratitude, beneficiaries lauded Dr Archibong for her generosity and acknowledged the support from the Chairman’s administration for grassroots development. They described the empowerment programme as a timely intervention, helping achieve financial stability and educational aspirations.
The event also saw the presence of Arch. Orok Ekpo, SA on Infrastructural Development, and Hon. Joseph Edem Ekpenyong, SA on Legislative Affairs – both praising Dr Archibong’s empowerment efforts and commended the Chairman’s vision for appointing individuals dedicated to driving such impactful initiatives.
The empowerment event concluded with a renewed sense of hope and optimism for a brighter future under the forward-thinking leadership of Hon. (Prince) Effiom.
