President John Mahama has instructed Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to urgently address the financial shortfall caused by the indefinite suspension of $156 million in USAID funding.
A statement from the Presidency emphasized the critical impact of this funding gap, particularly on healthcare and social services. Of immediate concern is a $78.2 million deficit affecting malaria prevention, maternal and child healthcare, family planning, reproductive health, and nutrition.
The suspension also threatens access to antiretroviral drugs, testing, and preventive measures for HIV/AIDS, heightening the urgency of intervention.
