Ghana’s main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has strongly criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for declaring former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra, NPP National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye condemned the move, calling it “unreasonable and unjustified”, and labeled it a “national embarrassment”.
Recall On Wednesday, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng accused Ofori-Atta of causing financial loss to the state, particularly in relation to:
The controversial National Cathedral project.
The Ghana Revenue Authority’s contract with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
The NPP insists the allegations are politically motivated, urging the OSP to act with fairness and due process.
However, the Special Prosecutor’s office has maintained that its actions are based on concrete financial investigations.
