DAMATURU (CONVERSEER) – The Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has approved the implementation of the new minimum wage for workers in the state.

Under the revised structure, teachers and frontline primary healthcare workers will now receive an additional ₦25,000, pushing their minimum wage from ₦20,000 to ₦45,000. While this represents a substantial boost, it still falls below the newly set national minimum wage of ₦70,000.

Other categories of workers will also benefit from the new pay structure. Employees on Grade Levels 01 to 06 will see a ₦10,000 increase, bringing their wages to ₦30,000. Those on Grade Levels 07 to 14 will enjoy a ₦25,000 boost, aligning their new wage with the ₦45,000 received by educators and healthcare staff.

For senior workers on Grade Level 15 who employ one domestic staff, the state has approved an increase of ₦35,000, with an additional ₦10,000 allocated for the domestic worker. This brings the total package to ₦65,000.
