Texas high school football player charged for shooting teammate after helping his team win state championship in Dallas

TEXAS (CONVERSEER) – Texas high school football player, Xavier Mayfield, who helped his team win the state championship in Dallas, Texas, has allegedly shot his teammate in the neck after the game.

Converseer reports that Mayfield, 18, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Just hours after South Oak Cliff won the state championship, Mayfield was reportedly playing with a rifle and shot his teammate in the neck.

A witness claims they were hanging out in a bedroom, “reviewing photos that were taken of a football game that had occurred earlier in the day.”

The witness says he was leaving the room when he heard a single gunshot.

The victim was shot in the neck and taken to the hospital. He is listed in stable condition.
