Attends Moroccan King’s Throne Day reception

The Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Miao Deyu, on August 3, 2026, received the Kenyan Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, who is on a visit to China.

During the talks, Miao stated that in April 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kenyan President William Ruto made the strategic decision to build a China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era, opening up broad prospects and injecting strong momentum into the development of bilateral relations.

“China congratulates Kenya on benefiting from China’s zero-tariff policy for African countries with diplomatic ties, and on becoming a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO). China stands ready to work with Kenya to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, promote high-quality China-Kenya cooperation, and contribute to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era,” Miao said.

For his part, Sing’Oei said Kenya highly valued the development of its relations with China and expressed gratitude for the valuable support China has provided to Kenya’s economic and social development, which has helped the country address risks and challenges.

The Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs also said Kenya firmly adhered to the one-China principle and was willing to make full use of China’s zero-tariff policy for Africa to elevate the level of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

“Kenya also seeks to deepen cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, finance, and public health, and to advance the building of a Kenya-China community with a shared future for the new era. Kenya is honoured to be a founding member of the WAICO and stands ready to continue close coordination with China on multilateral affairs, playing a greater role in strengthening the solidarity and cooperation of the Global South,” Sing’Oei said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Miao Deyu, on July 30, 2026, attended, at the invitation of the Embassy of Morocco in China, a reception commemorating the anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne (Moroccan National Day).

During the event, Miao met with the Moroccan Ambassador to China, Abdelkader El Ansari.

In his remarks, Miao said China and Morocco enjoyed a time-honoured traditional friendship.

He recalled that in 2016, Chinese President Xi Jinping and King Mohammed VI of Morocco jointly announced the establishment of the China-Morocco strategic partnership, a milestone in the history of bilateral relations.

Miao added that over the past decade, China and Morocco have treated each other as equals, supported each other and pursued mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, achieving significant progress in bilateral relations.

“This year marks the first year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. China is ready to work with Morocco to deepen practical cooperation in various fields, support each other on the path of modernization, and jointly create a bright future for the China-Morocco strategic partnership,” Miao said.

Also speaking, the Moroccan envoy said Morocco cherished the traditional friendship between the two countries and had always made the development of relations with China a firm strategic choice.

“Morocco looks forward to taking the 10th anniversary of the Morocco-China strategic partnership this year as an opportunity to intensify exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields and bring bilateral relations to a new level,” he said.
