Nigerian Afrobeats star, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has declared that he stands apart from the artistes commonly referred to as the country’s “Big 3.”
The Grammy-winning singer made the bold statement while asserting his position among Nigeria’s leading music artistes.
Burna Boy, who has enjoyed significant international success and earned global recognition for his music, said fans should no longer describe Nigeria’s top artistes as the “Big 3.”
According to him, there are only two artistes in the group, while he should be regarded separately.
“Next time anybody tells you about the ‘Big 3,’ tell them there’s only the ‘Big 2,’ and then there’s BURNA BOY,” he declared.
The statement reflects Burna Boy’s confidence in his status and influence within the Nigerian and global music industry.
The singer has consistently positioned himself as one of Africa’s biggest musical exports, with several international awards, global collaborations and performances at major events around the world.
His declaration is also likely to reignite conversations among music fans over the hierarchy of Nigeria’s leading Afrobeats artistes and the long-running “Big 3” debate.
