A man identified as Samson Matthew Ebop has been apprehended for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter multiple times in Cross River State.
According to reports from Naija Confra, Ebop was apprehended on Tuesday in his community at Iwuru Obio Ntan in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The reports, which alleged that Ebop is a cultist, claimed that the suspect’s daughter reported the matter despite a death threat from her supposed father.
Ebop, also referred to as Ecomoc, was then taken to the village square, punished before being handed over to security operatives.
According to the report, Ebop, who is in his 40s, is from Cross River State and was married to an Akwa Ibom woman who he had two children with – a boy and a girl.
After he and his wife separated, the woman went back to Akwa Ibom State with the children. She later remarried, and it was reported that her new husband was not treating his stepchildren well, prompting them to return back to their father in Cross River State.
The boy later went to stay with friends while the girl remained with her alleged cultist father, Ebop. “This was when her father started sleeping with his own daughter,” Naija Confra alleged.
“Initially, the 15-year-old girl resisted her cultist father, but after he threatened to stab her with a knife, she allowed him for her safety. After sleeping with his own daughter, Samson threatened to kill her if she told anyone. Out of fear, she kept quiet, but she later started telling people in their compound what was happening and how her father had been sleeping with her for a very long time. She even stated that it was her father who disvirgined her.
“Initially, some of the people she spoke to did not believe her, until yesterday when she spoke to someone who advised her to report the matter to her father’s age grade. She then reported to her father’s age grade and presented several evidence to them. The leader of the age grade then told other youths to summon the father.
“Samson was brought to the village square together with his daughter, and he was questioned. He initially denied it, but after his daughter presented evidence, and after confirmation from medical practitioners, Samson then agreed that he had truly been sleeping with his own daughter.
“Samson was seriously beaten by the community and was taken to the village head, who then ordered that he be taken back to the village square and beaten again, before the village head instructed that they make a report at the police station and follow up the matter to ensure that Samson goes to prison.
“The youths later took him to some soldiers in the area, who are now reportedly following up with the case. Over the years, Samson has been linked to raping old women who go to the bush to farm. He has also been caught stealing and punished multiple times,” the report by Naija Confra, a platform for reporting and documenting cult activities, on social media read.
