How Tinubu spent N350m on Democracy Day

Amidst the biting hunger, hardship and cries from workers, President Bola Tinubu has spent N350 million in celebration of the 2025 June 12 Democracy Day.

The approved Democracy Day budget was leaked by PIDOM NIGERIA, an investigative journalism platform popular on X (Twitter)

Below is the breakdown of the N350m as approved by Tinubu.

Secretariat – 50 million
Venue and entertainment – 10 million
Media and Publicity – 20 million
Church – 20 million
Medical – 13.7 million
Juma’at – 20 million
Parade – 60 million
Protocol – 7.3 million
National Symposium – 60 million
Accommodation – 29 million
Security – 50 million
Youth Component programme – 10 million

Recall that Labour and the Federal Government are at loggerheads over a new minimum wage for workers and the government’s best offer is N62,000 while the workers are demanding N250,000.
