Abandoned record player triggers alert at German train station

HAMBURG (DPA, CONVERSEER) – An abandoned parcel in an intercity express train triggered a police operation at Hamburg’s Altona station on Friday morning.

Police said on Saturday that a whole platform at the train hub in the northern city was cordoned off after the package was discovered by a train attendant.

A bomb disposal team examined the parcel and soon gave the all-clear: the box contained an old vinyl record player.

By around midday, the security operation was finished.

The device was handed over to railway officials as lost property.
