Abba Kyari tenders video alleging NDLEA aided drug traffickers at airports

By Our Reporter

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has presented a controversial video before a Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging that operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) assisted drug traffickers at Nigerian airports.

The video was tendered as part of Kyari’s defence in the ongoing drug-related trial against him and other police officers.

According to court proceedings, the footage reportedly contains confessional statements from convicted drug couriers who claimed NDLEA officials facilitated their movement through airport security.

A defence witness told the court that traffickers allegedly had their photographs sent ahead to NDLEA personnel, who would then identify and “clear” them upon arrival without thorough checks.

The video, which was played in court, was said to detail how the suspects transported illicit substances through airports undetected.

The court heard that the drug couriers, arrested with over 21kg of cocaine, claimed this method had been used multiple times before their eventual capture by police operatives.

Justice Emeka Nwite admitted the video as evidence and ordered it to be played in open court, marking a significant twist in the high-profile case that has drawn national attention.

The case has been adjourned to a later date as proceedings continue, with the allegations raising serious concerns about possible compromise within Nigeria’s anti-drug enforcement system.
