Abi LG Chairman Commissions Lodge for Corps Members

Abi, Cross River – The Chairman of Abi Local Government Area, Hon. Egbala Edom, has inaugurated a newly renovated six-bedroom lodge to accommodate National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the area.

The lodge, located in Itigidi and designed to provide a conducive environment for Corps Members posted to Community Secondary School, Itigidi, was renovated and donated by Ibam Development Association, a non-governmental organisation committed to community development.

Speaking during the inauguration, Chief Elder Eme Ibe Ekpe, President of Ibam Development Association, stressed the importance of creating supportive environments for young leaders, noting, “The young generation, who are the future leaders of tomorrow, need a nurturing environment to develop their talents and contribute to the nation’s growth.”

The paramount ruler of Abi Local Government and Chairman of the Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council, Ovai Solomon Osim Edward, commended the association’s initiative, calling on others to emulate such efforts.

Hon. Egbala Edom expressed his appreciation for the association’s dedication to societal development and urged more stakeholders to prioritise the welfare of Corps Members.

In her remarks, the NYSC Cross River State Coordinator, Mrs. Oyenuga Joke, represented by Mrs. Gloria Osanakpa, the NYSC Zonal Inspector for Yarkur, expressed gratitude for the project. She highlighted the significance of partnerships in fostering growth and nation-building.

The lodge is expected to enhance the service experience for Corps Members, ensuring their well-being during their stay in the community.
