Ace sports editor Anietie Iyoho goes home

The media community has again been thrown into mourning with the untimely death of Anietie Iyoho, ace sports editor and prolific writer.

Aged 52, Iyoho, until his demise was the Special Assistant to Senator Ita Enang, former Senior Special Assistant to then President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters (Senate).

He had worked at various times as Sports Writer, Deputy Sports and Sports Editor of Akwa Ibom Newspaper Corporation, publisher of The Pioneer Group of Newspapers, Uyo, Weekend Editor of Today’s Sports, Lagos, Assistant Sports Editor of the Nigerian Compass Newspaper, Sports Editor and Assistant News Editor of the Nigerian Pilot.

A graduate of English Language and Mass Communication from the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) and the defunct Polytechnic Calabar (POLYCAL), Iyoho was a devout Christian and a member of the Living Faith Church, Abuja, where he served in the media unit.

He was also a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and a one-time Akwa Ibom Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

A statement by his son, Gerrard Iyoho, said the remains of his late father would be interred Saturday, 2nd June 2024, at the family compound, Oto Akan in Etinan Local Government Area after a funeral service by Living Faith Church, Etinan.

He invites friends and well-wishers to join him and the family to bid his departed father a befitting farewell.
