The Akwa Ibom Government on Monday announced the revocation of all land allocations made since May 29, 2023, in the State.

The State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Udom, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who made this known, stated that the revocation was part of efforts to revalidate land records and transition to the new digital Akwa-GIS platform.

“Notice is hereby given of the revocation of all land allocations in Akwa Ibom State made from the 29th day of May, 2023, till date, inclusive of all government-acquired land, for the purpose of revalidating allocations and interests, and for migrating to the digital Akwa-GIS platform,” he stated.

He also stated that during the transition, all fresh land allocations and transactions would be suspended for one month.

He added that the Directorate of Lands would be temporarily shut down during the period.

According to him, the revalidation process will run for two months at the GIS office in the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning, after which any unvalidated allocations or interests will be considered invalid.

Similarly, Gov. Eno has relieved his Senior Special Assistant on Land Matters, Udeme Daniel Isa, of his appointment.

In a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Isa was disengaged ‘with immediate effect’.

He was also directed to hand over to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands.

The governor also approved a minor cabinet reshuffle.

In the resufflement Capt. Iniobong Ekong (rtd), Commissioner for Lands and Town Planning, swapped portfolios with Dr. Ubong Inyang, Commissioner for Trade and Investment.

Uwah stated that the adjustment was to further strengthen the State Executive Council in line with the governor’s ARISE Agenda.
