Embattled Professor Cyril Ndifon, erstwhile Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar (UNICAL) will be facing a panel set up by the institution to investigate various allegations bordering on official misconduct, sexual harassment, abuse of office labelled against him.
This was disclosed by Barr. Gabriel Orok, Secretary of the Investigative Panel, today, Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2023) at the Council Chamber of the Institution before its panel by 9:00 a.m.
Recall that Prof. Ndifon was recently on the news for alleged sexual harassment, official misconduct, and abuse of office which are against the extant rules and regulations of the University of Calabar.
CONVERSEER reports that on August 14, 2023, some students of the Faculty of Law under the umbrella of Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN) were led by their President, Comrade Benedict Otu protesting the sundry misdemeanours and improprieties in the Faculty before taking it the Administrative block of the institution.
The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Florence Obi after listening to the protesting students, asked them to return to their classes while assuring them of immediate action.
Part of the immediate actions of the University Management had Prof. Ndifon suspended.
Also, a committee with membership from NGOs, NBA, was constituted to investigate the allegations against Ndifon, who had been suspended in the past in a similar matter.
