Anambra teachers rally in solidarity for Soludo's reelection election

By Ovat Abeng

AWKA (CONVERSEER) – It was a show of loyalty and conviction on Monday, 3rd November 2025, as Solution SMART teachers under the Post Primary School Service Commission (PPSSC), Awka, marched in solidarity for the re-election of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo ahead of Saturday, November 8, the governorship election in the state.

The peaceful rally, which began at the PPSSC State Headquarters, Awka, and terminated at the new Government House, brought together teachers from Awka North and South Local Government Areas under the Awka Education Zone.

Addressing the teachers before the march, the Executive Chairman of PPSSC, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, lauded Governor Soludo for his commitment to educational transformation in the state. She highlighted the establishment of 22 Solution Smart Schools across the 21 local government areas as a clear testament to the governor’s vision and investment in digital and innovative learning.

Responding on behalf of the Governor, the Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, commended the teachers for their show of solidarity and dedication. He described them as the engine of Soludo’s education reforms, noting that their efforts have brought laurels and visibility to Anambra State’s education sector. He assured them that Governor Soludo remains committed to improving teachers’ welfare and consolidating the gains already recorded in the education system.

The Zonal Director, PPSSC Awka Zone, Mrs Ngozi Chukwujekwu, reaffirmed the teachers’ confidence in the governor, describing him as an “education-friendly leader and a senior colleague by profession.” She said the governor’s policies have rejuvenated the education sector, motivating teachers and students alike.

Teachers who spoke during the rally poured out their support for Soludo’s second-term bid. Mrs Scholastica Ijeoma Agbata of Community Secondary School, Umuokpu Awka, expressed appreciation for the governor’s consistent salary payments and implementation of the minimum wage, describing him as “a leader who treats teachers’ welfare as sacrosanct.”

Similarly, Mrs Joy Orenyenworji of Capital City Secondary School, Awka, noted that teachers owe the governor a debt of gratitude for his responsiveness and reforms, pledging their collective votes for him in the November 8 gubernatorial election.

Also speaking, Anulika Adibe dismissed allegations that the PPSSC leadership maltreats teachers, stressing that the Commission under Prof. Ikediugwu has ensured transparency, fairness, and accountability. She praised the governor for restoring dignity to the teaching profession through timely salary payments and modern teaching infrastructure.

Other notable officials present at the rally included Prof. Naomi Samuel, Deputy Chairman of PPSSC; Mrs Ann Okafor, the Commission’s Public Relations Officer; as well as zonal board members — Dr Uche Okeke (Awka Zone), Dr Ngozi Ekwunife (Ogidi Zone), Dr Ernest Chukwuka (Nnewi Zone), Dr Bibiana Okoli (Aguata Zone), and the Commission Secretary, Mrs Bernadine Anagor.
