APC Picks Uzodimma To Lead Osun Guber Campaign

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, to lead its national campaign council for the August 15, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.

The party also constituted several sub-committees to coordinate its campaign ahead of the poll.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said Uzodimma would serve as chairman of the campaign council.

The statement said the council’s co-chairmen are the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

According to the party, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, is the Secretary of the council.

The APC said the council comprises party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other stakeholders drawn from across the country.

It said the council was constituted to lead the party’s campaign and secure victory in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.

The party also announced the establishment of specialised sub-committees to coordinate key aspects of the campaign.

These include committees on Election Planning and Management, Finance and Resource Mobilisation, Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation, Logistics and Campaign Management, Monitoring and Compliance, Protocol, Media and Publicity, Security, Youth Mobilisation, Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilisation, Women’s Mobilisation, and Secretariat functions.

According to the statement, the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja by 12 noon.
