The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency in Kwara State has come under scrutiny after documents filed before the Federal High Court in Ilorin allegedly revealed glaring numerical discrepancies in the result sheets relied upon by the party to defend the nomination of its candidate.
The disputed documents, filed by the APC in Suit No. FHC/IL/CS/107/2026, Hussein Afolabi Esq. v. APC & 2 Others, are now at the centre of a pre-election legal battle challenging the nomination of the party’s House of Representatives candidate for the 2027 general elections.
According to court documents obtained by SaharaReporters, one of the certified result sheets filed by the APC and signed by the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Habeeb Salau, shows that the party’s candidate, Mohammed Mamman, scored 21,676 votes in Patigi Local Government Area.
However, the same result sheet reportedly records the total number of voters in Patigi Local Government Area as 21,315, creating a discrepancy in which the votes credited to Mohammed Mamman alone exceed the total number of voters by 361 votes.
The Plaintiff, Hussein Afolabi, Esq., argues in his Further Affidavit before the Federal High Court that the figures are mathematically impossible and cast serious doubt on the authenticity and credibility of the document relied upon by the APC.
According to the affidavit, the discrepancies extend beyond the votes credited to Mohammed Mamman.
The Plaintiff contends that the cumulative votes allocated to all aspirants on the same Patigi Local Government result sheet amount to 27,408 votes, despite the document recording only 21,315 total voters.
He argues that the figures are irreconcilable and constitute material inconsistencies capable of undermining the integrity of the primary election results.
The disputed Patigi Local Government result sheet was allegedly signed by Adebara Kolapo Abdullahi, identified as the Patigi Local Government Collation Officer. The document also bears the signatures of Habeeb Salau, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, and Sani Abdul, Secretary of the Primary Election Committee.
The controversy forms part of a broader pre-election dispute currently pending before the Federal High Court, Ilorin Judicial Division.
Afolabi, one of the aspirants who participated in the APC primary election, is challenging the validity of the exercise.
He contends that no official result of the primary election was publicly declared before the APC allegedly submitted the name of Mohammed Mamman to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.
According to the Plaintiff, several of the documents exhibited by the APC contain material inconsistencies, computational errors and omissions, which he argues support his claim that no validly declared primary election result existed before the nomination.
The Plaintiff also alleges that similar inconsistencies appear in the result sheets for the other two Local Government Areas making up the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency.
According to the documents exhibited before the court, the Edu Local Government result sheet records a total of 19,581 voters, while the aggregate votes allocated to all aspirants total 14,944 votes.
For Moro Local Government Area, the Plaintiff alleges that although the Local Government result sheet does not indicate the total number of voters, a computation of the ward-level result sheets exhibited by the APC for all 17 wards allegedly produces 22,775 votes, whereas the Moro Local Government result sheet allocates 23,573 votes to all aspirants—an alleged excess of 798 votes.
The Plaintiff argues that when considered alongside the discrepancies identified in Patigi Local Government Area, the inconsistencies call into question the reliability of the documents relied upon by the APC in defending the suit.
The APC has, however, denied the allegations.
In its Counter-Affidavit before the court, the party maintains that its primary election was validly conducted and that the nomination of Mohammed Mamman complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act, applicable legal requirements and the APC Constitution.
However, one of the certified result sheets filed by the APC has become a focal point of the dispute.

The Plaintiff maintains that these figures are inconsistent with the same summary sheet, which records the total number of voters in Patigi Local Government Area as 21,315, despite attributing 21,676 votes to Mohammed Mamman alone and 27,408 cumulative votes to all aspirants.
