APC’s Okpebholo emerges winner of 2024 Edo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Monday Okpebholo, APC candidate, as the winner of the 2024 Edo State Governorship election.

INEC declared Okpebholo the winner on Sunday for the election held on Saturday, 21st September 2024.

According to the results announced by the INEC, Okpebholo polled a total of 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo, PDP candidate, who polled a total 247,274 votes.

Meanwhile, Olumide Akpata Esq., of the Labour Party, came third after polling a paltry 22,763 votes.

CONVERSEER reports that Okpebholo won in 11 out of the 18 Local Government Areas of the State while Ighodalo won in the remaining seven.

Akpata, on the other hand, lost in all the local government areas, including his own area, Oredo LGA.

The Local Government Areas won by Okpebholo, include Esan West, Owan West, Akoko Edo, Egor, Esan Central, Ovia South West, Orhionmwon, Owan East, Etsako East, Oredo and Etsako West.

The Local Government Areas won by Ighodalo, include Ovia South-West LGA, Esan North-East LGA, Ovia North-East LGA, Uhunmwode LGA, Igueben LGA, and Esan South-East.
