Arsenal Eye January Move for Viktor Gyokeres or Bryan Mbeumo

LONDON – Arsenal are reportedly considering bolstering their attacking options with January moves for Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres or Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, according to French outlet L’Equipe (via GFFN).

Gyokeres, 25, has been in scintillating form for Sporting CP, amassing 32 goals and six assists in 30 matches across all competitions.

However, his €100m (£84m) release clause presents a significant financial hurdle for the Gunners. Reports suggest Sporting may lower the striker’s price to £63m in the summer, making an immediate transfer a costly option for Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, also 25, offers Premier League experience and versatility. The forward has scored 13 goals and provided four assists this season, ranking as the league’s joint-fourth top scorer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly an admirer of Mbeumo, who has a contract until 2026. Brentford may consider a sale if they anticipate the player will not renew his deal.

Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sport Germany recently reported that Arsenal were eyeing Mbeumo for a potential summer transfer. However, recent injuries in Arsenal’s squad could expedite those plans.

While Gyokeres plays as a central striker, Mbeumo typically operates from the right flank, suggesting the two could complement rather than compete.

Nonetheless, it is unlikely Arsenal will pursue both options this month, making prioritisation critical.
