Biden-Harris DOJ Releases Report on Trump Election Interference Investigation

The Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Justice publicly released the first volume of former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s final report on the investigation into the federal election interference case against President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday.

According to Fox News, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland released the first volume of Smith’s report on the election interference case at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday after an initial hold on the public release of the report expired.

In a letter to Merrick Garland accompanying his final report, Smith defended the charges he brought against Trump, saying , “The claim from Mr. Trump that my decisions as a prosecutor were influenced or directed by the Biden administration or other political actors is, in a word, laughable.”

Smith added, “Trump’s cases represented ones ‘in which the offense [was] the most flagrant, the public harm the greatest, and the proof the most certain.’”

While Smith acknowledged that the prosecution against Trump was “not able to bring the cases we charged to trial,” he emphasized that his office stands by its decision to bring criminal charges against Trump following the controversial 2020 election. In the report, Smith claimed Trump “resorted to a series of criminal efforts to retain power” after the 2020 presidential election.

Smith argued that the Justice Department’s stance regarding the Constitution’s prohibition against the “continued indictment and prosecution of a President is categorical and does not turn on the gravity of the crimes charged, the strength of the Government’s proof, or the merits of the prosecution, which the Office stands fully behind.”

Smith’s report added, “Indeed, but for Mr. Trump’s election and imminent return to the Presidency, the Office assessed that the admissible evidence was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial.”

Following the publication of the first volume of Smith’s final report on the investigation into Trump, the president-elect released a statement on Truth Social, saying, “Deranged Jack Smith was unable to successfully prosecute the Political Opponent of his ‘boss,’ Crooked Joe Biden, so he ends up writing yet another ‘Report’ based on information that the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED, because it showed how totally innocent I was, and how completely guilty Nancy Pelosi, and others, were.”

Trump claimed that Smith is a “lamebrain prosecutor” who was not able to get the election interference case tried in court prior to the 2024 election “landslide” and emphasized, “THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN!!!”

In another post, Trump wrote, “To show you how desperate Deranged Jack Smith is, he released his Fake findings at 1:00 A.M. in the morning. Did he say that the Unselect Committee illegally destroyed and deleted all of the evidence.”
