BNL Accuses FG of Marginalization, Insists on Referendum in South East, South South

By Magnus Effiong

Biafra Nations League (BNL), a separatist group with headquarters in Bakassi peninsular, has accused the Nigerian leaders of treating the people of the South East and South regions as third-class citizens.

BNL Leader, Princewill Chimezie Richards, who said this while addressing Journalists in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, demanded that the federal government of Nigeria should conduct a referendum in the two regions to address self-determination agitation of the people of the area.

While reminding the federal government of the ability of his fighters to unleash mayhem on economic assets of the Nigerian State when pushed to the walls, he said “my warnings do not come empty. I command an army of daredevil fighters who are loyal and ready to act anytime, any day.”

He found fault with inability of the federal government to cause the Calabar seaport to be fully operational, adding “Calabar had the first seaport, and a historical town where colonial masters settled. Igbos were also sold during slave trade through Calabar, but for Lagos, it does not have any historical record.”

Speaking on the nationwide protest, Richards alleged that northerners had showcased their agenda of wanting a Russian invasion and Russian rule and posited “they don’t speak for the Igbos and other sections of the country.”

He restated his support to the State of Israel in its current war against Hamas, and submitted that his people “will always identify with Israel.”

Recall that Richards had, last week, vowed a harsh reprisal if the threats to evict Igbos from Lagos and South West States is carried out.
