The Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani has reportedly ordered the arrest of a political activist, Zamani Musa, popularly known as Mycah Dangata, over comments calling on residents to work against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of future elections.
Sources familiar with the development told SaharaReporters that Dangata was arrested after publicly campaigning against the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sani while urging Kaduna residents to reject all candidates presented by the APC.
According to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters, Dangata’s arrest followed the circulation of a video he recorded shortly after the APC primaries, during which he openly declared support for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and former Senator Danjuma Laah, while also advocating a shift of political power to Southern Kaduna.
“There is a popular video Dangata made after the APC primaries in which he started campaigning and also declared support for NDC and Danjuma Laah, insisting that power must shift to Southern Kaduna,” the source said.
The source further stated that Dangata was reportedly arrested by Operation Fushin Kaduna, a security outfit and task force launched by the state government in collaboration with the Kaduna State Police Command and other security agencies to combat banditry, kidnapping, and gunrunning.
“He was arrested by Operation Fushin Kaduna, the state security outfit composed of policemen,” the source said.
The source added that Dangata may have drawn the government’s ire after making comments comparing Governor Sani unfavourably with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
“I think he must have offended the government by saying that El-Rufai is better than Uba,” the source added.
Meanwhile, in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, Dangata, speaking in Hausa, criticised Governor Sani’s style of leadership and political decision-making, while praising former Governor El-Rufai for a more people-oriented approach to governance.
Calling on residents to unite against the APC, Dangata said, “Therefore, everyone who truly cares about Kaduna State should come together so that we can combine our strength and work against the APC from top to bottom.
“We should vote out Asiwaju (President Tinubu), vote out Uba Sani, and vote out every candidate presented by the APC.
“If you look at the structure of Kaduna State, whether you like him or not, by God, you will admit that Malam Nasir El-Rufai cared more about the people than Governor Uba Sani.
“Why? Because Malam El-Rufai would simply allow the people to bring forward whoever they wanted, and he would do his job. But this one will come to your town, and when he gets there, he will personally choose the person he likes and insist that this is the person you must present.
“When has that ever been acceptable? What kind of democracy is that? That is not democracy. It is a return to military rule, although even the military did not do things that way.
“Therefore, everyone who cares about Kaduna State must come together and join forces to work against the APC. We should defeat the APC because the APC does not want us, and we no longer want the APC either.”
“Yes, we must work against the APC from top to bottom. We should vote out Asiwaju, vote out Uba Sani, and vote out every candidate presented by the APC,” he added.
