Burkina Faso Urges for Peace as Tensions Escalate in Solenzo

The Burkinabe government has urged armed groups to lay down their weapons, emphasizing the need to shift focus toward national development rather than prolonged conflict.

Government spokesperson Gilbert Ouédraogo made this appeal in a televised address, calling for an end to hostilities while also reaffirming the state’s commitment to security and stability.

The government’s appeal comes in the wake of growing controversy surrounding events that took place in early March 2025 in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.

Reports had surfaced alleging that 305 civilians were massacred by the Burkinabe army, claims that the government strongly denies.

Ouédraogo dismissed these allegations as disinformation, condemning what he described as “lying media outlets” spreading false narratives.

He further urged the public to rely only on “serious media” for accurate reporting, warning that attempts to incite public unrest or demoralize security forces would fail.

While calling for an end to the war, Ouédraogo made it clear that Burkina Faso’s response to insurgents would remain firm.
