Carnival Calabar: Diamond Band Unveils Owan-Enoh As Patron

Ahead of the 2023 Carnival Calabar, Diamond Band, one of the competing bands in the carnival has unveiled Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Senator John Owan-Enoh as patron.

The unveiling took place in Abuja on Wednesday 22 November 2023 by the leader of the band, Mr Eric Anderson (ANIPR) in the company of the band’s Abuja Liaison Officer, Mr John Uma.

The unveiling of the patron is happening in the build-up to Carnival Calabar & Festival which will light up the city of Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, with a Carnival and Festival theme tagged; “Season of Sweetness”, the state government had rolled out a well-curated calendar of events to make this year’s Carnival and Festival a memorable package and worthwhile experience.

Owan-Enoh is a Nigerian politician, teacher, farmer, and philanthropist from Cross River State. He has served in various capacities in the legislative and executive arms of government. He is currently Nigeria’s 36th Minister of Sports Development.

Mr Anderson said the choice of Senator Owna-Enoh as patron is as a result of his rich profile, his poise and his charisma, which represents the ideology of the band, moreso, considering his accomplishments in public service over the years.

In its 19th edition, Carnival Calabar 2023 will be the highpoint of 32 days of nonstop fun events in Calabar, by this unveiling, the patron will lead Diamond Band on the outing with six other bands, as they coast to cart away the juicy star prizes.
