Chelsea Fall to Late Muniz Strike as Fulham Triumph at Stamford Bridge

London, UK – Chelsea’s Premier League title aspirations suffered a blow as Rodrigo Muniz’s 95th-minute winner secured a dramatic 2-1 victory for Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.

The Blues, now four points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, failed to capitalise on early dominance. Cole Palmer opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a stunning solo effort, weaving past defenders before finishing clinically.

Despite several chances to extend their lead, Chelsea were repeatedly thwarted by Fulham’s resolute defence and an inspired Bernd Leno in goal.

Fulham’s persistence paid off in the 81st minute when Harry Wilson converted after an excellent build-up play involving Alex Iwobi and Antonee Robinson.

With Chelsea pushing for a winner, Fulham capitalised on the counterattack, as Sasa Lukic set up Muniz for a decisive finish in stoppage time.

Enzo Maresca’s decision to make only one substitution faced criticism as Fulham grew into the game, exposing defensive vulnerabilities in Chelsea’s setup.

The result marks a second consecutive setback for the Blues, raising concerns about their consistency against non-top-six opponents.

Chelsea Player Ratings

  • Robert Sanchez (7/10): Reliable in goal with several crucial saves.
  • Marc Cucurella (6/10): Energetic but caught out for Fulham’s winner.
  • Cole Palmer (7/10): The standout performer with a brilliant goal.
  • Enzo Fernandez (5/10): Mixed performance; effective in possession but exposed defensively.
  • Pedro Neto (4/10): Struggled to impact the game offensively.

The defeat leaves Chelsea with much to ponder heading into the final stretch of the season.

Meanwhile, Fulham’s victory bolsters their campaign, showcasing resilience and tactical acumen under Marco Silva.
