The Cross River State Police Command have beefed up security in the state as Christian faithfuls celebrate 2025 Christmas.

The State Commissioner of Police (CP), Rashid B. Afegbua, in a message felicitating with the good people of Cross River State, and Christian faithfuls on the upcoming 2025 Christmas Celebration assured citizens and everyone in the state of their safety.

In furtherance of the above, the Commissioner of Police, in statement on December 24, by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, said he has directed on-the-clock surveillance activities, foot/vehicular patrols, and visibility policing across the State to forestall any breach of peace and hitch-free Christmas Celebration.

The CP enjoined all citizens residing in the State to go about their lawful businesses without fear or panic.

The statement said, “the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Commanders are directed to ensure the safety and security of citizens during and after the celebration.

“The Police Command will not fold its hands and watch any group or individuals under whatever guise to obstruct or cause breakdown of law and order”.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police called on good-spirited citizens with useful/genuine information to continue to support the Police and other sister agencies in their efforts to ensure peaceful coexistence in the State and the Nation as a whole.

In case of distress or emergency, the Commissioner said, “you can use the following helplines: Control Room: 08138568456 Complaint Response Unit: 08134096900”

While charged members of the public to “help the Police to serve you better by saying something when you see something, please”, saying the Command wishes the good people of Cross River State Merry Christmas, a happy New Year celebration in advance, and a season of sweetness.
