in Metro, Politics

A High Court sitting in Calabar has adhered to Rt. Hon. Efa Esua’s plea, and in turn, garnisheed the account of the Cross River State House of Assembly account to the tune of N19.3 million.

According to The Beagle News, the above sum was owed by the House of Assembly as remuneration and allowances from May 2021 to January 2022 as per the consent Judgment of the High Court delivered on Monday, 7, 2022.

The accounts affected by the garnishee order include imprest and oversight with a cumulative sum of over N23 million as the total amount of lodgement.

The suit that gave rise to the judgement was instituted on August 13, 2022, seeking the enforcement of a consent Judgment over the connivance of some of the members of the Cross River State House of Assembly to convert salaries and allowances to their personal use.
