The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP. Rashid Afegbua, has charged the 2025/2026 Police Constable Recruitment Screening Team on due diligence, professionalism, and transparency.

The Commissioner of Police on Monday, March 9, received members of the Recruitment Screening Team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Victor Bekep, at the Officers’ Mess, Moore Road, Calabar, marking the official commencement of the screening exercise in the state.

This was contained in a statement dated March 10, by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Eitokpah Sunday for Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command.

The statement said, the CP Afegbua was present to observe the exercise and charged the screening team to carry out their assignment with diligence, professionalism, and transparency.

He assured the team that the Command, in liaison with the Cross River State Government, “will provide the necessary support to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly and without hitches”.

Addressing the qualified applicants, the Team Lead, DCP Bekep, welcomed the candidates and urged them to conduct themselves in an orderly and disciplined manner throughout the exercise.

He emphasized that the screening process is strictly merit-based and that only candidates who meet the stipulated requirements will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment process.

He further cautioned applicants against paying money to anyone who may promise to influence the recruitment process, stressing that the exercise is free, transparent, and based solely on qualification and merit.

The Command therefore advised all applicants “to remain vigilant and report any individual or group demanding money or making fraudulent promises in connection with the recruitment exercise via the following contacts; Police complaint response unit CRS :08134096900”

The screening exercise is scheduled to hold from 9th March 9, to April 18, 2026.
