…says children are the future currency of any state

Member representing Boki I and Chief Whip of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong, has said that there is no future for any nation/state that does not prioritise the safety and protection of the child.

Bisong stated this on 27th May 2024, in a message marking the occasion of Children’s Day.

While lamenting the spate of child abuse and other delinquent activities of some children, the lawmaker urged states to fully implement the Child Rights Act and other treaties that enhance the protection of the child.

He also noted that war crimes and forced labour have, in recent history, impacted severely on the growth and development of children all over the world.

The high-ranking House Member further pledged to support legislation and policies that safeguard children, especially the vulnerable and poorly developed.
