CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Cross River State-born veteran Nollywood actor, Effiom Effanga, is dead. He died on Monday, 20th October 2025.
Though the cause of his death is yet to be ascertained. However, Aniebiet Udofia, a script writer, movie producer, actor and CEO of AfriKstars Production House, confirmed the news.
“Effiom Effanga pick my call oooooooooooooooo please oooooo Jesus Christ ooooo ooooo,” Udofia wrote on Facebook.
Another Cross River-based actor, Kandy Umoh, confirmed it. He said, “Cross River State movie industry just lost a big masquerade.”
Anthony Jima said the deceased was in his house shortly before the information about his death broke out. “I found him in my house this afternoon,” he stated.
Converseer reports that Effanga, a fine actor in his prime made a post four days ago on Facebook, saying, “When we were kids, we cried loudly to be noticed. But now we cry silently because we don’t want anyone to know,” with a song titled ‘I Can’t Kill Myself’ by Timaya in the background.
His last movie was Dérè: An African Tale, released in 2023 and produced by Mo Abudu and Quinty Pillay, with direction by Dickson Dzakpasu, Toma Enkarhire, and Joshua Enkarhire.
The veteran actor has been mourned by many across the region and the industry.

Ani Jasper Esang wrote, “Effiom Effanga, We had an unfinished project…”
May Field New wrote: “He commented on my post yesterday, he said, ‘ and we move,’ I never knew he was passing a message that he was moving to the great beyond. Oh my God.”
“It’s still shocking, bro”, – Obase Okanke Willie wrote.
“A very good man. He did CD branding for me some years ago. God bless his soul” – Rowland Akama Osim stated.
