CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – The member representing Obubra I State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Ovat Agbor, has publicly apologised over the alleged domestic violence that led to his suspension a few days ago.

Below is his apology:

I, Hon. Ovat Dickson Agbor, Member representing Obubra 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, wish to sincerely express my profound apology to the Government and good people of Cross River State over the recent controversy that has generated public concern.

First, I respectfully extend my heartfelt apology to His Excellency, Apostle, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, the Executive Governor of Cross River State, and the Wife of the Governor, first lady, Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, for any embarrassment the situation may have caused the government and the image of our dear state.

I also tender my sincere apologies to the leadership of the Cross River State House of Assembly under the able leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, as well as my esteemed colleagues for the discomfort and distraction this development may have created within the House.

Furthermore, I extend my apologies to the entire people of Obubra Local Government Area, our respected traditional rulers, political leaders, and stakeholders who have always shown me unwavering support.

My sincere apology also goes to my political family, the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State and particularly the APC Obubra Chapter, for any negative attention this situation may have drawn to our great party.

I equally apologise to my wife’s family and my own family for the emotional stress this matter has caused.

While many narratives circulating online do not accurately reflect the true situation, I take full responsibility for not coming out earlier to address the issue publicly. I acknowledge that my silence created room for speculation, and for that I am deeply sorry.

I remain committed to serving my constituents with humility, responsibility, and renewed dedication.

Hon. Ovat Dickson Agbor
Member Representing Obubra 1 State Constituency.
