Dangote Cement Tops Gainers as Investors Earn ₦842 Billion in Just Five Hours

The Nigerian equities market extended the bullish trend on Thursday with investors gaining ₦842 billion at the close of the day’s trading.

This followed the growth in the share prices of stocks like DANGOTE CEMENT, SUNU ASSURANCE, and, REGALINS amongst others on the trading floor.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization rose to ₦68.1 trillion from ₦67.2 trillion posted by the bourse on Wednesday.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) increased to 109,171.82 points from 107,822.53 points which were recorded the previous day.

The market breadth was positive as 34 stocks advanced and 25 stocks declined, while 61 stocks remained unchanged in 16,342 deals.

DANGOTE CEMENT, SUNU ASSURANCE, and, REGALINS led other gainers with 10% growth each in prices to close at N474.40, N6.27, and N0.77 from the previous N431.00, N5.70, and N0.70 per share.

GOLDEN BREWERIES, LINKAGE ASSURANCE, and ETERNA led other price decliners with 9.91%, 6.76%, and 6.57% dip in share prices to close at N7.09, N1.38 and N45.50 from the previous N7.87, N1.48 and N48.70 per share.

On the volume index, UNIVERSAL INSURANCE led trading with 23 million shares in 101 deals followed by WEMA BANK which traded 22 million shares in 380 deals.

STERLING NIGERIA traded 21 million shares in 204 deals.

On the value index, ZENITH BANK traded stocks worth N839 million in 451 deals followed by ARADEL which traded equities worth N726 million in 436 deals.

OANDO traded shares valued at N604 million in 734 deals.
