Marketers Contemplate Abandoning Dangote Fuel as Imported Petrol Prices Drop

CALABAR (CONVERSEER) – Dangote Petroleum Refinery has released new pump prices for petrol across Nigeria, but there is a disparity in the geopolitical zones.

Converseer reports that the new petrol price announced this week ranges from ₦875 to ₦905 per litre.

A breakdown of the revised price shows that South South, South East and North East geopolitical zones have the highest pump price.

It’s as follows: Lagos = ₦875, South West = ₦885, North East = ₦905, North West and Central = ₦895, and South South and South East = ₦905.

One would wonder why South South and South East prices will be highest despite being the producers of crude.

The new prices indicate a ₦15 reduction per litre across all the regions and partner retail outlets, applying to all major fuel marketers in partnership with the refinery, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.

The decision to maintain price stability, according to a release signed by its Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, reflects its commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy and alleviating the burden on consumers from the increase in fuel prices by maintaining price stability.

“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for better engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company stated in the notice.
