The Trade Union Congress TUC, Cross River State Council has pleaded with the Government of Cross River State led by Governor Bassey Otu to fulfil its obligation to civil servants by extending the payment of wage awards.
This was disclosed in a statement by Comrade Monday Ogbodum, State Chairman of the TUC on Saturday, stressing that, “The negotiated palliative allowance, essential prior to the implementation of the wage awards, expired as of February 2024.”
Ogbodum added “This development, coupled with the recent decrease in salary payments and the suspension of the palliative allowance for March, has significantly reduced the take-home pay of civil and public servants.
“Consequently, they now find themselves at the receiving end of the prevailing economic challenges
“Despite these hurdles, the TUC assured the government of their unwavering commitment to the success of Prince Otu’s administration.”
