The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, on Saturday tendered more documentary evidence against Governor Monday Okpebholo at the state’s governorship election petition tribunal in Benin City.
Ighodalo and his party are challenging Governor Okpebholo in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State.
They tendered over 1,000 documents when they opened their case at the tribunal on Friday.
In Saturday’s proceeding, the petitioners’ counsel, Kenneth Mozia (SAN), tendered more evidence, including 55 Certified True Copies (CTCs) of polling Units voters register, CTCs of 56 accreditation figures of extracts from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Bimodal Voters Accreditation Systems Machines (BVAS), 72 CTCs of extracts of accreditation figures from the BVAS devices, 75 CTCs of INEC’s Results Viewing (IREV) Containing Form EC8A and 70 CTCs of INEC’s Polling Units Booklets, containing Form EC25B, among others.
However, the governor and APC objected to the admissibility of the documents.
The respondents said they would give their reasons during the presentation of their written addresses.
The tribunal chairman, Justice Wilfred Kpochi, provisionally admitted all the documents and marked the same as exhibits.
He adjourned the panel’s sitting till Monday.
