The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed media reports insinuating that the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, is being investigated over alleged visa racketeering, saying it has no case whatsoever against her.

The Commission, in a statement on Monday , said it was aware of reports in the media about alleged visa racketeering involving some officers of the NIS, particularly subtle insinuations about an assumed investigation of the Comptroller General.

“The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that it has no case with the Immigration CG,” it said.

The EFCC however confirmed that subsisting cases of alleged visa fraud against some immigration officers were already before the Federal High Court, and disclosed that further investigations were ongoing with the possibility that more NIS officers could be arraigned for alleged fraudulent practices in the near future.

The Commission was however emphatic that Nandap was not remotely connected to those investigations.

The Commission urged the media to always seek clarifications on its activities before publishing reports to avoid misrepresentation of facts.
