Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met in El Alamein with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Education and Technical Education Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the Minister of Education and Technical Education said that technical education, which is one of the main pillars of development, currently includes about 2.35 million male and female students within 3213 specialized schools. He referred to the signing of international agreements and partnerships to expand applied technology schools to reach nearly 225 schools by the beginning of the next academic year, following the signing of cooperation protocols with Italy to launch 100 applied technology schools in various specializations as of the next academic year. The partnerships with both Italy and Germany serve as a successful model of international cooperation in developing education based on technology, creativity and production, qualifying cadres and providing them with the skills necessary for the labor market.
Mr. Abdel Latif also reviewed the results of Egyptian-German cooperation in developing Egyptian-German technical schools, which culminated in the signing of a declaration of intent with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development regarding the development of Egyptian-German technical schools and granting graduates certificates accredited by Germany. This is in addition to signing cooperation protocols with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to develop, establish and operate 38 Egyptian-German technical schools at the beginning of the next academic year.
President El-Sisi followed up on the Ministry’s review of the educational frameworks for the Egyptian baccalaureate curricula, conducted in cooperation with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), to ensure their compatibility with international best practices while preserving national identity. Mr. Abdel Latif explained that this partnership reflects Egypt’s vision to modernize its education system through international cooperation, while preserving the character and unique identity of the Egyptian educational system.
He emphasized what this collaboration represents in Egypt’s journey toward building a globally competitive education system.
The meeting also covered the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop pre-university and technical education, improve the quality of the educational process, and foster an educational environment that supports innovation and skills development.
The MInister also reviewed the results of the ongoing cooperation with Hiroshima University in Japan in administering the TOFAS assessment for programming and artificial intelligence to high school (Thanaweya Amma) freshmen. He also discussed collaboration with Hiroshima University in implementing the financial literacy curriculum for high school (Thanaweya Amma) sophomores and introducing the subject of programming and AI to first year technical education students via the Japanese Qureo platform to enhance innovation skills and digital transformation. The Minister further highlighted planned areas of cooperation with Harvard University, particularly teacher training at the Egyptian Military Academy.
President El-Sisi stressed the need to continue implementing further reforms within Egypt’s education system, building upon past achievements to improve the level and quality of education and prepare generations equipped to meet the evolving demands of the labor market. The President also emphasized the importance of further enhancing international cooperation and exchanging expertise with various countries and educational institutions to support efforts to develop education and benefit from international best practices in this field.
