The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded an overwhelming victory at the polling unit of its governorship candidate and incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, during Saturday’s governorship election.

Official results declared at Polling Unit 003, Ward 06, Okelele, Ikogosi Ekiti, showed the APC securing a commanding lead with 326 votes, far ahead of all other parties that contested in the unit.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered two votes, while both the Action Democratic Party (ADP) and the African Action Congress (AAC) received one vote each. Three ballots were rejected and classified as void votes.

The breakdown of the result announced at the polling unit is as follows:

APC – 326

ADC – 2

Earlier in the day, Governor Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election on the APC platform, arrived at the polling centre with his wife, Olayemi Oyebanji, and cast his vote at approximately 11:38 a.m.

Addressing journalists shortly after voting, the governor expressed optimism about the party’s performance across the state, stating that the APC was on course to exceed its projected target of 500,000 votes.

He also praised the level of participation witnessed during the exercise and appealed to voters to show understanding regarding technical challenges reportedly encountered by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The governor maintained confidence in the electoral process, assuring residents that the commission would resolve any operational issues and ensure that all qualified voters were given the opportunity to exercise their franchise.
