New Chelsea manager, Xabi Alonso, has confirmed that Reece James will remain captain of the team.
Alonso has officially resumed work with the Premier League club, as pre-season begins this week.
However, he former Spain midfielder is currently training with a reduced squad as the World Cup begins to wrap up.
James and Enzo Fernandez will play against each other in the semi-final of the competition on Wednesday night, when England play Argentina.
But Alonso has said James will get the skipper’s armband on his return.
“He can do everything,” Alonso said about 27-year-old James.
“He can attack from inside or outside. He can deliver, he’s good at set-pieces, he has blue DNA, which is very important, and we transmit that to the whole team and new players. He’s going to be the captain.”
