The Nigerian equities market opened the week and month of March on Monday, March 3, 2025 on a losing note, as investors lost ₦94.61 billion on the trading floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX).
This follows a dip in the share prices of stocks like IKEJAHOTEL, UCAP, and CUTIX amongst others on the trading floor.
After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalization decreased to ₦67.288 trillion from ₦67.193 trillion which the bourse recorded on Friday, February 28, 2025.
The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) decreased to 107,455.13 points from 107,821.39 points which were recorded the previous trading day.
The market breadth was negative as 19 stocks advanced and 33 stocks declined, while 72 stocks remained unchanged in 15,474 deals.
NGXGROUP, LEARNAFRCA, CHAMPION led other gainers with 10%, 10% and 9.90% growth each in prices to close at N33.00, N3.63 and N4.33 from the previous N30.00, N3.30 and N3.94 per share.
IKEJAHOTEL, UCAP, and CUTIX led other price decliners with 9.92%, 9.91%, and 9.84% decline each in share prices to close at N10.90, N20.00 and N2.29 from the previous N12.10, N22.20 and N2.54 per share.
On the volume index, ZENITHBANK led trading with 32 million shares in 941 deals followed by FIDELITYBK which traded 19 million shares in 514 deals.
ACCESSCORP traded 16 million shares in 727 deals.
On the value index, ZENITHBANK topped as the security traded stock worth N1.5 billion in 941 deals followed by OANDO which traded equities worth N570 million in 1,236 deals.
ARADEL traded shares valued at N534 million in 326 deals.
